Weaving Fabulous Cloth

Have you ever thought of entering a Convergence exhibit, but just didn’t think you were quite ready? Have you ever wanted to enter the Convergence Fashion Show, but was just a little afraid that your work would not stand up? Do you have years of experience, been accepted into Convergence exhibits, but now want a little extra push to get to the next level? Maybe all you want is to have something to enter into our next juried exhibit. Well, now’s the time to start working. This class will help you find inspiration for that next great piece, help you work through the steps for weaving what you have envisioned, and then push your idea even further. What this all means is that we will come to class with ideas, your design notebook, and then samples of your ideas. You will weave these samples on your loom during the week between classes based upon what you’ve learned and seen in class. The class time will be spent talking about our work and sharing thoughts with each other on what could make it better. We will provide a supportive environment where risk taking will hopefully go on everyday. Weavers of all levels of ability should find value in this approach.

Mondays, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
September 8 – October 27, 2008

Class fee is $100

Beginning and Continuing Weaving

Beginners learn to prepare the loom for weaving and to read and design patterns. Students produce a sampler exploring loom-controlled and hand-manipulated techniques, and may create a project of their choice if time allows. Continuing students may study a specific weave technique or design a project with the help of the instructor. Discussions include project planning, fibers, different weaves, and color interaction.

Starter Class: Learn to Weave

Learn to weave on a simple table-top rigid heddle loom. This is a good introductory class if you have no weaving experience.
