The Chattahoochee Handweavers Guild sponsors an exhibition every year. In odd-numbered years, CHG hosts the juried Southeast Fiber Arts Show. In even-numbered years, CHG holds an exhibition which is open only to CHG members.
The Margaret Mott Award is presented at CHG’s Members' Show to a Guild member whose work has never been exhibited in a juried show, and whose entry is handwoven and entirely executed by the recipient. This award has been presented at every Member’s Show since 1992. Visit Members Only to view the list of past Margaret Mott Award winners.
EXTRAORDINARY THINGS
2011 CHATTAHOOCHEE BIENNIAL OF TEXTILES
Deadline for Entry: February 28, 2011
Registration NOW OPEN!
The Chattahoochee Handweavers Guild is pleased to announce a southeastern juried textile exhibition exploring fiber art and work that references or utilizes fiber or fiber techniques in innovative ways.
Juror:
Charlotte Vestal Wainwright, honorary AIA (formerly Brown) is the founding director of the Gregg Museum of Art & Design at North Carolina State University, where she has built a design and decorative arts collection that includes historical as well as contemporary objects and which focuses on American accomplishments and connections abroad.
What I am interested in: great objects with roots -- historical, functional, intellectual, conceptual -- not all necessarily combined in one work but what emerges from the work. I look for strong compositions, technical skill and individual expression. Humor, surprise and caprice also punch my buttons.
Eligibility:
* Open to fiber artists residing in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
* Entries must be executed and completed by the entry deadline. Entries must have been completed no earlier than June 2009.
* Pieces must be of original design, executed by the entrant, and one of a kind.
* Three dimensional pieces must arrive complete with armature and clear instructions for display. Both two and three dimensional work shall be limited to a weight of 40 pounds, including any mounting hardware and armature. No screws or bolts for hanging are allowed.
